Or another way to look at it is how much money will you have to fix it when you break down on the side of the road or worse; have an accident?
JS, a regular customer came in last week for an oil change and tire rotation. As always I road tested the vehicle prior to service. There were some funny and inconsistent noises from the front of the vehicle, especially on hard parking lot turns and maneuvers. Even though it was not in for that repair I had us dig into a little because it could turn into a safety issue. As it turned out the inner tie rods (part of the steering mechanism) were worn so badly they could have separated and caused a life & death scenario. So at what price do you limit safety? JS didn't; as a matter of fact he felt it to be so important he stressed the point to his family and friends in the email below.
Just some food for thought...
"Dear Friends and Family,
I made the repair of the week on the WOR Car Doctor this week. It wasn't the fame I was looking for, but I know that I am driving a safe car. You can listen to this adventure on the Car Doctor 's Podcast at WOR 710 or by going through raauto.com. Here is the synopsis of the podcast:
-- The Car Doctor with Ron Ananian - April 18 , 2009 - Hour 2
What's in a road test? Ron lets you know why it's so important for your mechanic to go for a ride in your car every once in awhile. He takes calls on banging suspensions, storing vehicles in the winter, knocking noises and more.
Enjoy the first three minutes. It was at my expense, but I know the job was done by professionals who know their job.
John"
Thanks John; if more people placed safety higher on the list of responsibilities for driving an automobile there might be less accidents and mechanical breakdowns...
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
