On a recent weekday morning I was greeted at the front door by the Waldwick Police Department. "Hey Ron, who did the burnout in front of the shop?" "Huh? What burnout?" Sure enough as he showed me the marks someone had left a pretty good set of tire marks out in front of the shop. Cops seem to notice this stuff! "Can we look at your video camera's to see if they picked up something?" the officer continued. So off to the office we went; as I'm waling with him I'm thinking boy somebody is about to get burnt. Who could it be? Maybe this is not a good idea...
As we were looking at the video and waiting for something to happen the knot in my stomach increased in size when I saw the 55 Chevy Station Wagon that belongs to my friend and fellow hot rodder John B approach the intersection across the street from the shop. "Uh, don't we have some criminals to go chase down or something I asked? There is nothing to see here." And then it happened. John pulled up in front of the shop and as we say " Smoked the tires". (Good one John)(BTW the car pulls hard to the right; you may want to adjust the tractrion bars a little as well as the brakes)
"Hey, that's John B the officer and his newly arrived backup exclaimed." (Back-up for a video review?) "No, can't be" I said, "isn't he in the army for the next 5 years?" After some further review it was deemed that yes indeed it was John and his now famous $5 car. (That's because every part he puts on it is $5 or less) To date I don't believe John recieved a ticket but I unuderstand he is next in line for a donation to DARE. (Pssssttt, John, the opper-ca's are'a ookinl'a orf'a ou'a)
And now for your enjoyment here is the vide in 2 parts. Good burnout, no?
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
