My husband insisted that I give Sadie, the dog, a 14th birthday party inviting her favorite dog friend Bentley, a very hungry Springer Spaniel, and his human parents. The big hit for the humans at the party lunch was the birthday cake, a simple raspberry buttermilk cake adopted from this month’s (June 2009) Gourmet magazine. The dogs ignored the cake, the corn bread, and the poached chicken salad and opted for Purina One. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
