New York Uncovered- Have Dinner Delivered and Show Off Your Talent

October 16, 2009

Dinner In Hand—delivery service
In Manhattan, many people I know have more take-out menus than actual food in their kitchens. It’s easy, fast and inexpensive to call in for every kind of food imaginable. But, when you live in the suburbs, it’s not that simple. An advertising executive decided to change that a few years ago with a great service called Dinner in Hand. It’s available in Westchester County, NY as well as Stamford and Greenwich, CT. It’s a food delivery service with home cooked meals delivered at prices cheaper than restaurants.

Service is available in lower Westchester five days a week and Chappaqua, Bedford, Mt Kisco, Armonk, Stamford and Greenwich, CT, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You place your order online anytime, 24/7 and what’s nice is there is no commitment or minimum number of days for delivery. They offer two weeks of free delivery to new clients then after that, Dinner in Hand has three options for delivery after your two week free delivery trial:
Pay as you go - pay for each delivery $5 per delivery or buy monthly membership. Three (3) month membership - 30% discount and other discounts A 3 month membership is $42 for unlimited delivery ($3.23 per week) Six (6) month membership -  50% discount and other discounts. 6 month is $72 or $2.75 per week.
All the food is made daily with healthy, fresh ingredients and they use organic chicken. There are 30 dinner choices from restaurant-like fare to comfort foods to diet-friendly meals. Deadline is 8am for same day delivery and they deliver to your house between 5pm to 8pm – you choose 1 hour time slots choose when you want delivery.
Entrees are around $13 to $16 per person and they come with a side and vegetables. They also have family style meals like lasagna for 4 for $23.95 or meatloaf for 4 for $21. They even have turkey meatloaf and lots of vegetarian options. Children’s meals like Chicken Parmigiana for $7.50 and a chicken quesadilla for $5.75, spaghetti with sauce $4.

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
