Nissan plans to build EVs, batteries in U.S., report says


Nissan Motor Co. plans to launch production of electric vehicles and their batteries in the United States to tap low-interest loans for green vehicles, the Nikkei business daily said. The overall investment is estimated at 50 billion yen ($516.4 million) and may rise to 100 billion yen, the paper said.

Bankruptcy looms for GM; Chrysler awaits fate


DETROIT - General Motors Corp. has cleared a couple of key roadblocks on the ailing automaker's route to an almost certain bankruptcy filing Monday.Early Saturday in Berlin, Germany's finance minister said a plan was approved for Canadian auto parts  maker Magna International Inc. to move ahead with a rescue of GM's Opel unit.
