Federal Investgation of Bridgegate Moves Forward

The U.S. Attorney in New Jersey is asking the legislature to hold off calling 9 key witnesses in the Bridge-Gate scandal.

That could mean the federal investigation into the G.W. Bridge lane closures is progressing.

The Wall Street Journal says the witnesses include Mike DuHaime, a top political strategist for Governor Christie, the governor’s former counsel Charles McKenna and Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich.

U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman’s request has left the legislative committee waiting for its next move.

"We have always strived to make sure that anyone we call before the committee would not wind up interfering with the U.S. attorney's investigation,” said Assemblyman John Wisniewski.

This comes as the legislative panel faces increasing pressure to produce results or end their investigation.  They’ve spent months looking at the scandal and have questioned a handful of witnesses, but haven’t uncovered much new information.

Wisniewski said the legislature is considering its next move, but isn’t ready to wrap up the investigation yet.
