The MTA announced on Monday that they will follow through with their plans to raise the fares in 2015.
The good news is that it may be lower than originally expected at 4 percent rather than 7.5 percent. This would make a single ride jump from $2.50 to $2.60.
The MTA says that this fare-hike is not an after-effect of the recent raising LIRR worker fares. The next time fares are allegedly being raised will be in 2017 and it could be another 4% hike.
