Statue of Liberty Reopens During Government Shutdown
Posted October 14th, 2013 @ 10:15am

The Statue of Liberty reopened to the public on Sunday after New York agreed to pay the costs to keep the site running during the government shutdown. Gov. Cuomo said on Friday that the state would pay $61,600 a day to keep the site open through Oct. 17. After that date, if the government shutdown is still going on, the state will renegotiate to keep the Statue of Liberty open.
