There's a good chance you haven't heard of John Burnett. That’s because all the talk surrounding NYC's 2013 comptroller race has been focused on Democratic candidates Scott Stringer and Eliot Spitzer. It also doesn't help that this is Spitzer's return to NYC politics after resigning as governor in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal.
People seem to forget that whoever gets the Democratic nomination still needs to face Republican John Burnett to see who will become the city's next comptroller. So who is John Burnett?
Well if you check out his campaign website's "About" page you will see Burnett has an impressive background which includes experience on Wall Street, an MBA at Cornell University, and time overseeing financial advisors at Morgan Stanley, Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch.
John Gambling had Burnett on his show Wednesday morning to learn more about the Republican candidate for NYC comptroller. Listen to the interview below.
