NJ Gas Tax
Perhaps you heard John Gambling suggest to New Jersey Governor Corzine that he raise gas taxes to help deal with the states budget deficit. Its not a surprise that people suggest that, New Jersey has one of the lowest state taxes on gasoline. Those who suggest that should keep in mind New Jeresey residents also pay extremely high property taxes as well as income taxes. So we dont need to get additional revenue through gas taxes, lets keep it that way. We dont have to pump our gas and our gas taxes are lower than post places. Leave us alone, we pay enough in taxes. If you want to close the budget deficit, CUT SPENDING

It's Time Mrs. Clinton
She may not be ready to give it up, but it’s time for Senator Clinton to think about ending her run for the Democratic Presidential nomination. With only a slim victory in Indiana and a 14-point loss in North Carolina, the numbers will just not work in her favor. No matter how she wants to spin this, Barak Obama is less than 200 delegates short of the number needed for the nomination. Her argument that she is more electable will just not be strong enough to tell Obama, who is so close to the finish line that she and the super delegates should trump what rank and file democratic voters have said. Clinton has argued that she beat Obama in the major states like Ohio, California, Virginia and Florida, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Obama can’t beat John McCain in those states. The only question that needs to be resolved now is – who tells Hillary it’s time to quit?

John Gambling Returns
I want to thank everyone who has written me or called to wish me the best as we make changes in the WOR Morning Show. I had a great time with Donna Hanover and I think we offered an entertaining show and I am sad to see it come to an end. But, I believe the return of John will give new energy and new direction to the show. I am thrilled to be part of that effort and while I may be moving from the “host” chair to the “news” chair, I will remain an active part of the new show. I am a newsman at heart and this new arrangement will allow me to be involved in news coverage and still offer our listeners my thoughts and views and hopefully a few chuckles. Please join us Monday.

Rebates for America
Most Americans will be checking the mail carefully over the next few weeks because most of us will be getting a rebate check from the government. It's an attempt to stimulate the economy and the idea is for you to take this money and spend it. But most people have already said they are strapped by high gas, oil and food prices, not to mention the cost of other necessities, so they will probably use the money to pay bills. I have never been a fan of rebates. Essentially what happens here is; the government gives you back money it took from you, money it would have otherwise spent on a government program. So now it comes back to you with the government suggesting you spend it. If they didn't take the money in the first place and lessened the overall tax burden we wouldn't need these silly gimmicks. Another reason I dislike this program is the money is going to people who really never paid much in taxes to begin with. Thank you for letting me vent.

The Sean Bell Verdict
The verdict in the Sean Bell shooting verdict has ignited a lot of protests with supporters of Bell and others wondering, how can police fire 50 shots at an unarmed man, kill him and wound two others and not be convicted of any crime. As Judge Arthur Cooperman explained the actions of the police officers was careless and incompetent and perhaps flawed, but it did not rise to the level of criminality. It’s an argument I have made for some time. Clearly the NYPD will have to re-examine how undercover operations are conducted and the protocol for when officers are allowed to fire their weapons. Unarmed suspects should not be shot at, clearly, so what we need is a policy that will protect citizens from jittery cops, but also allow police officers to fire their weapons if they are truly in danger. Let me know what you think.
