Two years ago, as many of you know, I suffered a ”hip fracture” " after a bike accident while training for the New York City Triathlon. One year ago, I had the 14 inch titanium rod that was implanted in my upper leg bone removed. As a consequence, at last year’s 2007 Mighty Hamptons Triathlon in Sag Harbor, Long Island, I was a spectator, walking painfully with a cane. It took all my energy to traverse the race transition area after the finish to congratulate my friends and family members who completed the race.
Although it was my fond wish to participate in another Triathlon, I had no idea at that time if my leg would heal completely. This Sunday, at age 55, I completed the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon 2008, in a stunning vindication of the powers that God and Nature grant us for recuperation.

Sunday was a milestone in my recovery, as I returned to Sag Harbor to join hundreds of professional and amateur athletes. At times, the rain threatened to deluge us, but we slogged on and I crossed the finish line to the congratulations of my three speedier 30-something weekend houseguests. It was great to be back in the game!
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
