M. Jodi Rell, Connecticut Governor joined the John Gambling Show 12.01.08

Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell joined the John Gambling Show to discuss the Connecticut budget deficit which now stands at 302 million, her opposition to the commuter tax and a website that let's the tax payers  know how they feel about Connecticut's Budget!

On Connecticut's budget deficit, Governor Rell said that along with Governors from around the country, she will be meeting with President Elect Obama and Vice President Elect Biden in Philadelphia to discuss what each state is facing. She said that if there is going to be a second stimulus package, then she'd like to see it placed in infrastructure. As an example, Rell said a transportation project is a smart way to go: through a new bridge or a road, new hires could be made and get the project going, then money invested in that is the way to go.

Rell added that a combination of cost cutting and some Government help is the right way to handle bailouts - she said that cost cutting on a state level can help the Federal money go to the right places. Governor Rell added that right now they are looking to where they spend their revnue - and right now that it's so low, Connecticut needs to really prioritize. And according to The Governor,  raising taxes is not going to solve the economic crisis.

Finally, The Governorshe is not in favor of a commuter tax because this sort of tax will deter people from coming into New York - and that would be very unfortunate.
