I wonder why some people are allowed to own and oeprate a motor vehicle? Let me tell you this story...
A semi-regular customer dropped off a vehicle recently to have it checked out before they shipped the car west some 2500 miles away in Colorado. We went through the car, 2 page checklist, $60 and found a bunch of things, some critical, wrong with the car. After a very complete and painstaking explanation the comment back was "Does it really need these things? Tell me if my car is going to blow up?" By blow up I am not sure what they meant??? "It's not reliable and its not something I wouldn't let get very far away from me if I was concerned about having to repair something far from home with mechanics I didn't know". It needed a timing belt, inner tie assembly and a trans service real bad. The fluid was black. If the timing belt breaks the engine is trash and well, the tie rod is only important if you worry about the steering wheel keeping the car going in the direction you point it. And it needed other various, maybe not as critical but still needed, fluids, filters and service.
"My daughter is only traveling 10 minutes back and forth to college out there, it's not far, she'll be fine".
Listen, a timing belt can break pulling out of the driveway, a tie rod has no soul as to when it will fail and a transmission with black fluid is not long for this world. Makes no sense to me why someone like this brought the vehicle by in the first place if they only wanted to hear good news and ignore the bad. I released the car after they signed off on a disclaimer as to its lack of reliabilty and safety. You can lead the horse to water but sometimes its really a mule!!!
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
