The Stars Were Out

Last night, after a day of tears and cheers celebrating the inauguration of our 44th President, my husband and I went off to celebrate Broadway and cabaret star Christine Ebersole’s opening night at Café Carlyle. Sitting next to me were two of my favorite people, Joan Rivers and Tommy Tune. Rivers, who true to her formula of never gaining weight (don’t eat anything after lunch), did not even glance at her beef tenderloin! Plus, Tommy Tune was all excited because he is bringing a brand new show to Broadway. And guess what….he ate! Tovah Feldshuh and one of the young stars from her show Irena’s Vow were seated with us too. Tovah’s good news is that the show is coming to Broadway in March! Also in the star studded crowd was Elaine Stritch, who was applauding enthusiastically for the extremely talented Christine Ebersole. Going to the Carlyle and relishing its old world charm is a real treat. Tony the maitre‘d has been there forever and takes care of everyone. The food is good, and if you do not do dinner find out if you can sit at the bar. It is expensive, but everyone agrees this evening was well worth it.

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
