The Swearing in of Hope

What a great moment for America on Tuesday with the swearing in of President Barack Obama. Coming just a day after the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth, it was a fulfillment of his "I have a dream" speech that he made at the opposite end of the National Mall 45 years ago. It was a day many blacks thought they would never see. Just as the election of the first African American President has given hope to all minorities, all Americans are hopeful, that he is the man who can lead us out of a difficult economic crisis. Aside from a few conservatives who still want to call Obama a socialist, most of America wants to give him a chance and I thinkhe deserves that. We can use a break from the divisive politics that we have experienced for almost 20 years. Despite what might have been said during the campaign, the enormity of the problems and the urgency for action will dictate that he take a more moderate and centrist approach. There will certainly be serious debate over how we address our problems, but there is no doubt Barack Obama has an opportunity to bring people together for the common good.

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines
