It seems as though a mechanics work is never done. There is always another broken car to look at or work on. Take this past Sunday for example. Yes, I know Sunday is a day off for some; just not for me. I was at the radio station and Dipstick, my engineer had a set of Bosch Icon wiper blades for his Hyundai that he wanted to put on the car. He has heard me talk about them so much that he wanted to try a set. He asked if I would mind helping him install them and I told him I would be glad to.
Down on the street, in front of the station 5 minutes later I found myself installing (LIVE FROM BROADWAY. TODAY ONLY) his blades (sure. let's see some other talk radio people do this for their engineer ); after the install I asked him to try them and run the washers. Well, his washers weren't working (perhaps Hyundai left that part off) so we opened the hood to take a look at the obvious stuff. His washer fluid was frozen and half empty but it was his battery that was a big surprise. All corroded and rotted at the terminals he needed to either clean the terminals or pray for a tow truck. As a suggestion to him and you if you do clean battery terminals make sure to wear eye protection and rubber gloves on your hands if you have them. Also a little bit of hot water to pour on the terminals will help clean things up. Lastly I told him,. check the water level in the battery and refill it with distilled water as needed. Oh and by the way when you or your mechanic install new wiper blades make sure the windshield gets cleaned and wiped off. Removing all the old dirt and grit really does help and it extends the life of the wiper blades. Be safe and stay warm.
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
