Is anyone paying attention to the price of gasoline? We all know its on the rise but is anyone asking why? Are we so thrilled that it's not in the $4 a gallon neighborhood that we are happy to focus on or be distracted by some of the other issues facing us today? Demand as reported this past week for gasoline is down (less people driving and commuting to jobs they no longer have is part of the reason for the diminished demand) and the price of oil per barrel a few days ago closed at less than $34 a barrel. BUT the current inventory levels of refined gasoline is down. Seems that the refineries are not making as much gas because the demand is soft. I'm thinking that when you consider all these factors along with the time of year it must be getting to be time for a Texas oil refinery to explode. You know, create a shortage in the system so the price goes sky high again. Hey, its worked in years gone by. Seems like every year, maybe it's a little early; we'll give it another month, this time of year a problem crops up at a refinery which slows production and reduces the inventory levels further. I'm not saying I wish this upon anyone but it sure seems like the pattern is due to repeat itself. I'm thinking they want the price of gas back up to about $2.50 or slightly more per gallon. Keeps everyone on their toes and makes a case for the purchasing of alternative fuel/powered vehicles. Let's see what happens between now and Memorial Day. Remember, you heard it here first.
See ya
