The phone rang at the shop early this morning. The slightly mumbled and hushed voice on the other end inquired if we could fix her car? "What's wrong with it?" "I'm not sure, it's my husbands car, some light on the dashboard came on and I think it may not run right." "Can you leave it for Monday?" "Well, can you look at it, diagnose it and estimate the cost to repair and then repair it tomorrow on Friday?" "I'm not sure, I need to know what wrong with it or have a better explanation."
Seemed like a reasonable answer to me. "I'll have to get back to you". I'm not holding my breath.
This is where I start my here's what's wrong with the world speech. If you want to have your car repaired you should expect and have the responsibility to be able to explain what exactly your concern is. And in this day and age be a little flexible. Major diagnosis on Friday is a stretch, especially if you need parts. Just a word to the wise...
