The Best Ways to Roam Around the Emerald Isle

I'm looking at the Insight Vacations tour, "Best of Ireland and Scotland."  It looks kind of pricey -- the $3000 price does not include air -- but I like the 40-passenger bus seating, the itineraries look good and it is 15 days, after all.

What is your view of this tour company?   Do you recommend another company instead?

Thanks.

Forty passenger busses are pretty standard, and that price seems quite high. While the company has a good reputation, I'd suggest looking to one of the Ireland specialists to get the best value. Try Brian Moore Tours (http://bmit.com) or Sceptre Ireland (http://www.sceptretours.com).

Personally, I think one of the greatest pleasures of touring Ireland is having the time to simply hang out in pubs and talk to the Irish, a nationality that possibly has a great gift of gab than any other. And when you're on a tour, you usually spend most of your time simply talking with other tourists. Have you considered doing the trip independently? With the exception of driving on the wrong side of the road, which gets some taking used to, Ireland is very easy to do on your own. There's no language barrier, the roads are well marked and if there's a friendlier country in the world, well, I haven't been to it!

Have fun however you do your Irish adventure.

Cordially,

Pauline Frommer

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
