Welcome to WOR Radio's 5th Annual Shining Star Talent Search® benefiting tri-state New York City schools and students by supporting arts curriculums and providing cash prizes to winning students...the Shining Star Winner gets $7,500 for their school and $1,500 for themselves. The 1st Runner-Up gets $1,000 and the 2nd Runner-Up gets $500. Students in grades 7-12 across the tri-state are invited to sing a song of their choice and to submit their recording to WOR Radio.
Here is a timeline of events:
Friday, May 15th - Top 25 Semi-Finalists will be placed on worshiningstar.com beginning at 8am for listeners to hear in their entirety and to vote online for their favorite from which the Top 6 Finalists will be determined. Listen to The John Gambling Show (weekdays, 5:30-9am) on Friday, May 15th to hear his announcement sending listeners to the website to begin voting.
Week of May 18th – Top 25 Online Voting continues.
May 16th & May 23rd - Top 25 Entries will be split into two groups and played on one of these two dates on the WOR Saturday Morning Show with Joe Bartlett (7am-9am).
Tuesday, May 26th – Top 25 voting concludes.
Thurs., May 28th - Top 6 Announced. Phone and Online Voting begins.
Week of June 1st - Portions of Top 6 Finalists’ entries will be played on The John Gambling Show.
Sat., June 6th - Full Top 6 Finalists' entries will be heard on the WOR Saturday Morning Show.
Tuesday, June 9th – Top 6 Voting concludes.
Thursday, June 11th - Shining Star Winning Student, School, and Runners-Up are announced on The John Gambling Show at 6:30am!
The Top 6 Finalists’ entries will be available online at worshiningstar.com to be heard in full at any time. The combined phone and online votes will determine the winner and runners-up.
