Their is a camaraderie among car guys,er, people, uh, folks (What is the politically correct term these days?)
One of my car buddies, John B, has a 55 Chevy station wagon. We call it the $5 car. Gail, his better half (who also owns the Franklin Lakes Deli, my Friday breakfast ritual) hung that name on it and we're not sure why. Maybe because every time he buys something it never costs more than $5; or maybe that's her appraisal of what the car is worth. Anyway; car guys are loyal to each other in a very fierce way. We may "bench race" about who's car is best, faster, nicer, etc BUT we never would throw one another under the bus. Its like an unwritten code of the car guys. Just like Indians never attacked before dawn; that type of thing. Got it? OK.
The other day at the shop the Waldwick PD came in and asked "who did the burnout in front of the shop". "What burnout?" I was in early and never noticed."Can we see your video camera's and maybe it will show us something" "Sure, why not".
And then it dawned on me as I was walking into the office. This may be someone I know. Oops! As I reviewed the video, along with 2 of Waldwicks finest, I started thinking there is nothing here to see. And then it happened...
Approaching the stop sign at the corner of the shop creeps this 2 door 55 Chevy wagon. (at least that's what the boys in blue think. Me? I think it was a Volkswagen)(and for the record the car pictured at the beginning of the blog is John's brother's Teddie's 55. John's car seems camera shy all of a sudden) It staged right in front of the camera on the street side, I mean there was no mistaking this episode) "Hey, that looks like John B" they shouted. "No, can't be, he doesn't drive a VW" or some such comment was made. Whatever and whoever it was I just couldn't throw them under the bus. It's part of the code of the west, er, uhm, car guys club.
And John, if you are reading this "The opperca's are ereha. Ookla Outa". P.S. Nice burnout...
See ya

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
