How was your weekend? Mine was great. Good radio show Saturday, jammed phone lines and busy as all get out...
Sunday was my first day off in 11 years so I spent it like a car guy would and should; working on my hot rod. I was joined by Jared Lapin, one of the Account Exec's from WOR that helps work on the show. He needed someplace and somehow to raise his truck on a lift so he could clean the frame and paint; it was real rusty and cruddy. And he wanted to replace the shocks. "Sure, come on out Sunday, how much trouble can you cause?" Oh, boy!!!
We, as in me, replaced the shocks straight away. True story; a quick shot of GIBBS Brand penetrating spray and the nuts and bolts holding the shocks on came off real easy (www.getgibbs.com) . About an hour later the shocks were in and done. Now it was time to paint. Jared started out with good intentions. He put on his paint suit which covered him from head to toe and clearly would prevent any paint from getting on him and his clothes. It worked well for the first hour of scrubbing and rust removal. Then it happened. He removed the suit. I'm not sure why. Then the paint came out of the can. And onto the frame...and his arms.., and the floor of the shop....and his face and well, everywhere. He looked like a Dalmatian puppy when he was done! If they ever make a movie titled 101 spotted ad exec's he gonna be a consultant based on experience.
And nothing will take off this paint. POR 15 is really tough stuff. No soap, no solvent in the shop worked. A little bit came off with some lacquer thinner and that took a deal of work. So if you see Jared some time soon (and then again anytime in the next 3 months) ask him to roll up his sleeves. Or be aware those black dots on his face are not some kind of new freckle.
That's Jared painting his truck and everything else in a 20 foot proximity...Jared, next time, wear the suit.
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
