Democratic strategist and former Clinton advisor Doug Schoen joined the Steve Malzberg Show to discuss the new relationship with President Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez.
Doug feels that being so close and friendly with Chavez does in fact hurt United States relations and interests due to the fact that Chavez is involved in the drug trafficing trade. There are also hundreds of politicians who are in opposition to Chavez, but either placed in jail or have their lives threatened. This is certainly not Democratic behavior, and giving support to Chavez and not putting pressure on him in a way is helping to support his treatment of these individuals and further endangering the lives of many of the Venezuelan citizens.
Schoen also comments on the book that Chavez gave to President Obama, stating that it is a book that attacks the United States and says we are an evil country. To not have more of a response to receiving that kind of book as a gift from Chavez other than "I don't think it was a bad gift, I'm a reader" is irresponsible and almost insulting. Chavez has also insulted the United States and former President Bush and has never apologized for it, and Doug believes that President Obama being friendly with Chavez without him showing any kind of apology for insulting our country or our former President is a hurtful symbol.
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
