The Fig File: M.T.A.: Money Tax Anarchy

The Fig File: M.T.A.: Money Tax Anarchy

There is no time to mix words here; the Metropolitan Transit Agency is a corrupt anarchy that has been perpetually mismanaged these later years, chock full of hutzpa demanding higher fares, tolls, taxes and even just yesterday green lighting a plan that would punch straphangers square dead in the eyes with further calls for increases in the coming two years.

The agency that has called itself the lifeblood of the New York is now in sepsis and must be cured of all micro bodies and infections. The management, no matter how long at the helm is the catalyst for the MTA’s chronic illness of mishandled funds has become a pariah, a poison to our slipping away capitalist society to the tune of 1.2 billion surplus just two years ago which has now resulted in, what seems to be a bottomless pit of deficit; a problematic pain that is transferred to the tax paying public every two to three years.

Some patients should be pulled off life support. But I am a convinced pacifist, an observer of real time, a problem solver. I think I have the remedy:

My plan: reduce the MTA back down to it subsidiaries: The BMT and IRT Train Companies, Green Line and Triboro Coach Bus Services, bring back the High Line Train System, Old Fashioned Street Trolley’s (tracks can still be found under the dunderhead Department of Works Projects that pollute the residential and Thru Streets). Horse and buggy, even God given left, right, left, right, left for those of us who still do that sort of thang.

Independent Governance, rather than a communist socialistic conglomerate, to all mass transit in this City. The idea first came to me when I watched the MTA absorb the Triboro Coach and Green Line buses -  I knew service would be reduced and in some cases lines re-routed to the MTA’s most endowed suitor - like the Atlas Mall in Queens which now boasts a once Jackson Heights bus services in Glendale (Look at a MTA provided bus map to see the proximity of both areas)

If the MTA is allowed to raise fares, tolls, whatever they are labeling this latest round of pick pocketing, their hands will be covered with blood. In bare minimum and dramatic fashion: The blood of those who cannot afford to get out of bed to take the 2.00 dollar train ride to their place of work to receive their owed check because it might just set them over balance for that month  They will be doomed.

The MTA is “doomed” as well. Here’s how I’ll end this: if the Doomed man who cannot afford the subway ride and the MTA were hanging off a cliff, both losing arm strength and slipping, well, I know who’s going down.

Not you.

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
