I haven’t seen my New Jersey shore cousins for a long time. So I invited Nancy and her husband, Doctor Marty, to spend what turned out to be a wet cloudy weekend. Nancy, the best cook in the family, made a Gruyere, three-tomato tart for an appetizer for a small dinner party. (I have to get her recipe and post it on our website). We also had steaks and ribs on the grill, sautéed mushrooms, new potatoes with garlic and rosemary, and Nancy’s cheesecake and berries for dessert. How much fun to spend time with close family members who shared a childhood. We laughed at stories involving our mothers, brothers, and assorted cousins. Our holiday gatherings are so big and busy we rarely have quality one to one contact. We planted, we cooked, we reminisced, played golf, and shopped and of course we ate. It really made us all feel good. Why not try it for a weekend with your relatives or old friends- its restorative.
In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
