We talk health, we join gyms, we buy exercise videos, and yet just 8% of Americans meet 5 healthy lifestyle benchmarks like exercising, eating right, and not smoking. According to a recent study from the University of South Carolina obesity is up from 28% to 38% and the people who eat five servings of fruits and vegetables daily dropped over the years from 42% to 26%. I’m one of them. I dream of lifting weights, but I only pick them up twice a week. I actually pay to go to a nutritionist, because it is the only way I’ll keep my mouth shut. In my next life maybe people will send me jewels instead of food and maybe my kitchen will become a gym. At any rate I’m 20 pounds lighter in the last eight weeks and still counting- calories that is.
