Gov. Paterson: What's Done Is Done and Let's Move On!
David Paterson, Governor (D-NY) joined The John Gambling Show to discuss the Madness going on in Albany and his call for the Senate to come together to vote on who should lead the legislative body Plus: The Governors’ new economic plan that would broaden New York's economy by driving more federal and state money to energy, technology and medical research.
Governor Paterson said that the problem is there is no one to work with - and this is the last two weeks of the session! There's a time for campaigning and if they wanted to change the leadership that is fine, but not the last two weeks of the session. The Governor said that he has yet to hear the reason why this has happened; it's irresponsible - what could have been done is that all the issues that were important could have been voted on in the legislature.
Governor Paterson added that he called all the parties involved, and Senator Monserrate wasn't clear on exactly what he wanted to do but what's happening here is outrageous. Now that this has been done tho, let's move on and get back to the business of the State. Governor Paterson said that the GOP has passed types of legislation he wanted to get done last year so working with them is not a problem at all.
Finally, Governor Paterson said that right now, he is going to State very close to home until this gets resolved. The legislature may stay an extra week to undone the damage done by this if ordered by The Governor.
