8:10: Guest: Dick Morris, Political Author and Commentator; Former Clinton Advisor
Dick Morris, political author and commentator, joined the John Gambling Show with guest host Rita Cosby to discuss the town hall health care forum held by President Obama on Wednesday. Dick thinks that Obama is determined to push this bill while they still have the 60% of votes in the senate. However, he still thinks that the bill might not pass because the numbers do not work. Morris feels we need to simply expand the number of doctors and then patients. The risk of doing the opposite will cause diminishing returns such the case in Canada; fewer doctors treating more people. The end result will be low quality health care service.
Morris adds that the White House is doing a dance on the subject. Obama is now being persuaded to violate his campaign promise because he will have to tax the families making under the $250,000 income cap in order for the bill to work. The spending in the stimulus package has also worked against getting the bill going through. The money this cabinet gave to people was saved instead of being used to stimulate the economy since people were worried about finances. Because of this, Obama has quadrupled the deficit and raised interest rates. That combo will force the president to tax the people he said he would not.
Finally, Morris discussed Hillary Clinton and her influence on Obama in regards to Iran. He said that Hillary has come down like a pile of bricks showing a stern stance as the president tries to build diplomacy between countries. However, Morris feels that Clinton might start to shy away from Obama if his numbers start to drop. If the approval ratings fall, Hillary will start siding against the president to keep her own image intact. The days of her whispering in his ear will come to an end according to Morris.
