8:40: Guest: Rep. Mike Pence, (R-IN) Chairman of the House Republican Conference
Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) joined the John Gambling Show with guest host Rita Cosby to discuss President Obama’s agenda and how it is worsening the economy. Pence first off discussed the stimulus bill and its feeble efforts to boost our troubled financial situation. Pence does not understand how President Obama could say the stimulus bill is working and he does not think people are buying it. He says that the bill was just a way to allow liberal spending to go on and it has caused a bigger debt. The banks are the only ones who benefited from this while the people of the country have not gotten anything in return. Pence said that only 7% of the stimulus bill money has been distributed to the to the community and Washington did not do this correctly.
Congressman Pence then continued on the issue of unemployment and the staggering numbers that came out on Thursday. They prove that the stimulus bill has not worked and will probably continue not to. The White House had promised that they would lower unemployment to 8%, but the number is currently an astonishing 9.5%. Even worse so, the president said that that number could rise to 10%. Pence thinks we need to chuck some of these plans President Obama has pushed such as cap and trade and focus strictly on the economy.
Finally, Congressman Pence said that the president wants plans like clean air energy and cap and trade figuring it would boost jobs and help the economy. However, Pence says that these agendas will continue to take our economy in the wrong direction. Instead, he thinks Washington needs to give Americans more freedom. By doing this, we will head into a pathway of growth which will get the economy rolling once again.
