(Wimbledon, England)  --  Roger Federer won his record 15th Grand Slam title Sunday by beating Andy Roddick for the 2009 men's single title at Wimbledon.  After dropping the first set, Federer needed five sets to dispatch the sixth-seeded American, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 16-14.  The match set a Wimbledon record for the most games played in a men's final.  Federer had been tied with Pete Sampras with an all-time best 14 Grand Slam titles.  It was also Federer's sixth title at the All England Club.  Although seeded second, the Swiss man was the highest seed to play in the competition after world number-one Rafael Nadal  1/8 1/8 nay-DAHL  3/8 3/8 withdrew with tendinitis in his knees.  With the victory, Federer will retake the top world ranking from Nadal.

For Roddick, it was his fifth appearance in a Grand Slam final and his first since the 2006 U.S. Open.  His only major championship came at Flushing Meadows in 2003.  He falls to 2-and-19 lifetime against Federer.
