5th swine flu death reported on eastern LI

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (AP) - Long Island's Suffolk County has recorded a fifth death linked to swine flu.

County health officials said Monday the latest victim, a Babylon woman between the ages of 55 and 65, had multiple underlying medical problems.

Suffolk Health Commissioner Dr. Humayun Chaudhry (HOO'-mah-yoon CHAW'-dree) says the woman died Saturday and had been hospitalized since early June.

Suffolk County has 136 confirmed cases of swine flu. Most of those confirmed to have the virus have recovered or are recovering.

Nassau County has recorded one death due to swine flu, a young pregnant woman who had just given birth.
