Dicker: In The Coming Weeks, The Democrats Will Once Again Lose Power To The Republicans

Fred Dicker, NY Post Albany Bureau Chief told the John Gambling Show that Senator Pedro Espada Jr is one of the slickest politicians in Albany right now, a remarkable character who has emerged, at the moment on top of the NY Senate. Espada gives the Democrats a 32-20 Majority, something they needed to swallow if they wanted to have this majority. Dicker said that the power being in leadership is the driving force behind this entire move; leaving Malcolm Smith the loser here. By the end of the year, Fred predicts Malcolm Smith with step down as Senate President and John Sampson will  step in; meanwhile Senator Skelos is a 3 time loser in this whole thing as well.

Fred added that Governor Paterson's appointment of Richard Ravitch as Lt. Governor really had nothing to do with this; that in fact several of the press core in Albany knew something was going to happen on Thursday however, Governor Paterson was unaware of this happening. Dicker says the Governor, along with everyone else was stunend by this.

Fred's prediction? In the coming weeks, tensions will arise within the Democratic Party once again and they will ultimately lose the majority back to the Republicans.
