Poll: Little excitement for NJ's lt. gov. race

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) - A new poll finds that New Jersey voters are not fired up by the addition of lieutenant governor candidates to this year's election.

A Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll released Wednesday finds that about 6 in 10 voters are aware that this fall is the first time the state will elect a second-in-command.

But more than 80 percent say the candidates for the office will have no bearing on their gubernatorial choice.

Further, only 11 percent know Loretta Weinberg is the Democratic candidate, 6 percent know Kim Guandano (gwah-DAHN'-oh) is the Republican candidate and just 1 percent can name Frank Esposito is the Independent on the ballot in the Nov. 3 election.
