So Barack Obama marked his first September 11th anniversary as president with a speech at the Pentagon. He proclaimed that September 11, 2009 was the nations first, "National Day of Service and Remembrance." National day of service? With "remembrance" thrown in for effect? What is going on here?
This is the latest in a long list of events designed by Obama and his administration to dumb down what took place here on that horrific day eight years ago. It started with his doing away with phrases such as "war on terror\' and "Muslim terrorists". His multiple apologies to the Muslim world on behalf of our great nation are sickening. But the president really outdid himself this morning.
By focusing on service, in what he says is a way to honor those who rushed into the towers on 9/11 and gave their lives, he hopes to accomplish two things.
First, he wants us to forget what happened to us. He wants us to forget who did this to us. He wants us to forget their religion. He wants us to forget what they believe. He wants us to forget what they want, and he wants us to forget that they will do it again. He wants to disassociate the Muslim terrorists and their literal interpretation of the koran and the threat that they continue to pose to our homeland, from what happened here on 9/11. Instead he wants us to think of another way to mark the date year to year.
Obama claims that we will honor those first responders who rushed to save those in danger after the attacks. So he wants us to give soup to a needy person, or visit a senior citizen at a home, or paint a park bench. All worthy causes in their own right, but hardly worthy enough to honor the brave souls who gave their lives on 9/11.
Obama\'s poor attempt at equating his push for "service\' on 9/11 with what those true heroes did, is an insult to their memory. These are people who chose professions that were dangerous by definition. Running into burning buildings, going after bad guys on the streets of our cities, responding to the scene of an accident or a shooting. There was nothing ordinary about these folks and to tell America that we can honor and be like them by painting a bench is an outrage.
If Obama has his way, they will soon drop the "remembrance" leaving us with a "National Day of Service" on 9/11. How long before Obama apologizes for the towers falling down?
