Having A Small Wedding- Joan's Picks

dewit@nac.net

I am always asked about venues to have weddings. Sue, a listener, who is dealing with a second wedding, wants a small elegant place that will accommodate 30 people and money is not an issue. My choices Gramercy Tavern. 42 East 20 Street 212- 477-0777 has a lovely backroom. Blue Hill at 75 Washington Place 212- 539-1776, might allow you take over the entire restaurant or to use the enclosed garden room.   I also suggest the fabulous Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County 212- 539-1776 where they can arrange music if you like.  Chanterelle Restaurant 2 Harrison Street 212-966-6960 is elegant with divine food. Eleven Madison Park 11 Madison Ave 212- 889-0905, in Danny Meyer’s stable, is now a four star restaurant with private rooms upstairs.   Daniel 60 East 65th Street212 288-0033 is expensive, but divine in every way and has private rooms.

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
