Browns Send Troubled Edwards To Jets

THE LATEST...

(Florham Park, NJ)  --  Braylon Edwards is now a member of the New York Jets.  The Cleveland Browns sent Edwards to "Gang Green" for fellow wide out Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and undisclosed draft picks.  Edwards says he will have good memories of the Browns organization.

The move comes as Edwards is being investigated by Cleveland police and the NFL for allegedly punching a friend of Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.  Edward Givens says in a criminal complaint Edwards struck him with a fist on the left side of his face, causing a black eye and a cut.

AND EARLIER...

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Jets have reached an agreement with the Cleveland Browns to acquire troubled but talented wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

The Jets sent wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and undisclosed draft choices to the Browns on Wednesday to acquire the deep threat they had been lacking. Edwards, in his fifth season, has 10 receptions for 139 yards.

Edwards is also dealing with off-field issues as the NFL is investigating whether he violated the league's conduct policy following accusations he assaulted a man outside a nightclub.

Edwards allegedly punched promoter Edward Givens, a friend of NBA star LeBron James, early Monday morning following an argument in downtown Cleveland.
