Halloween Hunt

Halloween is a big deal in my house. My children have been asking since the start of school to put out the scarecrows, pumpkins and the other ton of decorations we seem to have accumulated over the years. Then there is the issue of the costumes. Like most children, they have been contemplating who they wanted to be since last Halloween. Part of me wishes they would come up with a simple store bought option, but I guess my kids are like me and have to make everything a challenge!

My daughter Noelle has asked to be a 50’s girl. You wonder why a girl born in the 21st century would want to time travel back 50 years for Halloween. Well, she danced to “Rock Around the Clock” last year for dance school and loved the pretty blue and black polka dot costume (it is all about the clothing, even at 7.)   It still fit, but need to be accessorized. I found a wonderful place online called, 50sPoodleSkirts.com .  It was filled with very reasonably priced 50’s costumes and accessories for adults and children. All I needed was a poodle appliqué, and when I did not see one on the site I called them. They said they were more than happy to sell me one. They make the skirts themselves, so they had the appliqués on hand. I also picked up an accessory pack which included a chiffon scarf, poodle bobby socks and cateye glasses.

Now my 4 year old son wants to be an ice cream man…and of course no such costume exists. So I will have to get my creative juices flowing, I have a few thoughts already. If you have any ideas just let me know! All I know is that I am going to somehow have him playing ice cream truck music as we walk the neighborhood. I can see it already, children from all over will be looking down the street to see where the truck is. As if the candy was not enough!
