NEW YORK (AP) - An 11-year-old girl has died after the car she was riding in overturned, and the driver has been charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
The accident happened early Sunday on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Manhattan.
Police say 31-year-old Carmen Huertas was driving with seven passengers when she lost control of the car and it flipped over.
The 11-year-old passenger, Leandra Rosado, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The other seven people in the car, including the driver, are being treated for minor injuries.
It wasn't immediately clear if Huertas had a lawyer, and there was no phone number listed under her name.
