Power Door Locks for Everyone!!!

cardoc@wor710.com

Ever buy a vehicle without power door locks or a remote starter option? In other words a basic vehicle. With the economy tight right now many of you are doing just that. Basic vehicle; engine, radio, 4 tires and maybe air conditioning. But afterward you may want to add some power features anyway. I had the opportunity to watch a power door lock switch install on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Pickup this week and thought I would share the highlights text and pictures.

This truck originally came without a remote start option and power door locks. It is your basic work truck; used for hauling and plowing snow. Because of the snow plowing a remote starter was installed to allow proper warm up time since cold weather and digging out from more than 6 inches or better of snow is where this truck lives. The remote start function required to the install of power door lock actuators also but originally no switch. Follow along as Rich from Zippo's Car Stereo and Accesories in NJ finishes the job.

Here is a shot of the door panel off the truck. Note that the white insulation pad is important as a weather barrier against the door panel. If you ever remove one be careful not to disturb it or make sure you reinstall it afterward.

Because the remote start option was already installed all Rich had to do was route the switch wiring through the door following the same path the factory provides for their wiring and plug the switch into the remote module under the left side of the dash. The hardest part of this project was cutting the door panel to fit the switch in place. Here are a couple of shots in progress,

Here is a shot of the finished product, switch installed and ready to go.

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
