Among the many accolades raining onto Glenn, including "Scariest Person of 2009", he can now count on ArtReview's blessing as one of 2009's most powerful people in the world of Art.
The acknowledgment from the art world was shocking for Glenn, despite his interest in pointing out for the public the difference between art and propaganda and reminding America through Leftist imagery that very beautiful things can come from very ugly places. It also comes at a time when the Obama Administration is making conscious, visible efforts to control art and use the National Endowment for the Arts to generate pro-Obama propaganda. Yesterday Glenn showed you clips of NEA chair Rocco Landesman praising President Obama as "the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar," which, while a disgustingly biased thing to say, is relatively benign when you consider the work of one Buffy Wicks- "remember that name," Glenn implored to his audience.
Wicks works at the White House, and among her many responsibilities is to organize a community of pro-Obama artists to generate feel-good propaganda for the administration. Below is audio of a conference call Wicks put together with influential artists ordering them to create pro-Obama propaganda, which has been aired repeatedly on the Glenn Beck Program:
"As one of the most powerful people in the world of art, why didn't Buffy invite me to that conference call?" asked Glenn today, rather sad that he was excluded from this pro-Obama elite. On a more serious note, Glenn was extremely concerned about the possibility of the government coopting the art world, and is doing his part to help by hosting his own art show highlighting the greatness of America.
