(The Bronx, NY) -- A new report indicates the NYPD Detective, accused of mowing down a Bronx grandmother last week, had blood alcohol level more than two times the legal driving limit.
Off-duty Detective Kevin Spellman had a .21-blood alcohol content from a blood sample drawn more than five-and-a-half-hours after the deadly accident.
The 42-year-old detective faces drunk driving, vehicular homicide, and criminally negligent homicide charges.
Spellman refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the scene and a court order was needed for a blood test.
Spellman is accused of striking and killing 67-year-old Drana Nikac on Kingsbridge Avenue in the Kingsbridge section last Friday.
