Hoboken election highlights NJ mayoral races

NEWARK, N.J. -- For the second time in less than six months, residents of Hoboken will pick a mayor.

The election deja vu was created when Mayor Peter Cammarano resigned in July following his arrest on federal corruption charges.

Acting Mayor Dawn Zimmer, the city council president, is one of seven candidates vying to finish out Cammarano's term and serve until 2013. Top challengers are fellow Councilwoman Beth Mason, affordable housing developer Frank Raia and former municipal judge Kimberly Glatt.

Camden also will have a new mayor after Tuesday to replace Gwendolyn Faison, who is not seeking re-election. Democratic state Sen. Dana Redd is the favorite. In Atlantic City, incumbent Democrat Lorenzo Langford faces three challengers.

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.
