Goodwin: Mayor Bloomberg Has A Monumental Task Ahead

He's back! Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has been reelected to a 3rd Term as Mayor of NY – but it’s a bittersweet victory; he only defeated challenger Bill Thompson by 5 percentage points. Michael Goodwin, NY Post Columnist told John Gambling that the big message to talk about first comes from the big Gubernatorial races: Virginia and In New Jersey; two races the Democrats thought they would win. It was a tough message for President Obama and will hinder the passage the Cap and Trade and Health care legislation in the House and the Senate. In New York, the race for Mayor, a 51-46 win by Michael Bloomberg, was a small spread but Goodwin never thought it was as large as what the polls said it was either. The third term turned out to be a major factor for a lot of people, only 1.1 million votes were cast- shockingly low for an election, and the negative ads by Mayor Bloomberg may have turned off voters says Goodwin.

So where does Mayor Bloomberg goes from here. "The is one of those elections that makes you wonder why anybody wants the job." says Michael. The City's deficit with Albany will grow, taxes will have to be raised and more money will leave the local economy and the Mayor has been part of the economic problem. Mayor Bloomberg has played the political game of rewarding the unions for votes - now he has to solve the problems made by this in New York

Marathon Miracle

In a previous blog, “A Runners Wife” I spoke about my husband training for the NYC marathon. All I have to say is that the months of training all came together of an amazing race. Race day is a grueling day for runners, and the family. But a miracle happened...

Pray for Us

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the senate judiciary committee and basically shrugged when asked if any other enemy combatant captured overseas had ever been brought to civilian criminal court to face justice. Talk about an incompetent boob, not to mention a disgrace.

Great food matched with lovely wines

Here is a list of wines all from Spain, and menus from restaurants in Brooklyn where a crew of us  did a food / wine crawl through Carrol Gardens and Williamsburg recently
