Rob Astorino Unseats Andy Spano In Race For Westchester County Executive
(White Plains, NY) -- Republican challenger Rob Astorino is pulling off an upset, ousting three-term incumbent Andy Spano in the race for Westchester County Executive.
Astorino defeated the 73-year-old Spano, carrying 58-percent of the vote. Astorino focused on an anti-tax message, noting Westchester is home to the nation's highest property taxes.
Spano was seeking a fourth-term as County Executive.
Spano said in his concession speech that he attempted to stress to Westchester voters that he had worked to preserve the quality of life for residents.
There was a light voter turnout in Westchester with a third of registered voters showing up at the polls.
