By “throwing caution to the wind” and leaving her career as a photo producer in Manhattan, NYC designer Alison Pawling launched West/Feren, an eclectic line of designer handbags.At the age of 26, Alison lived out a long-time dream inspired and named after her past grandmothers Mildred West and Mildred Feren to create a unique collection of stylish, yet highly functional designer handbags.“I wanted to make bags that could transition from day to night, that was a great combination of fashion and function,” says Alison Pawling of West/Feren.
Susan Simonson and Allison Marchese were at dinner one night when they discovered they shared a love of inventing in addition to their love of horses. In the past, the two friends had often laughed about finding themselves in a tight situation, or “in the clutch”, needing to go quickly from work, to barn, to dinner. They went to work and after some experimentation, the two friends began making stylish, lightweight, stretchy clothing with matching fabric backpacks, in a variety of fun colors and styles. Problem solved! Perfect PouchWear was born.
