David Goldman, NJ father who testified before Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission on International Child Abduction and Parental Access, discusses the abduction of his son Sean who’s been held in Brazil after his mother ran off in 2004. David wishes to send a message to those countries that are in opposition to international treaty laws who do nothing to try and help bring back abducted children. In Brazil he is looked upon as an orphan, after his mother had passed, and is being held there by his stepfather. Brazil courts have been slow to act and rule on the situation, leaving David with nothing to do but wait.
Through his visits to see his son, who is trapped in a Brazilian compound during the court ruling process, he has learned that Sean has been sleep deprived and punished for being in contact with his real father. There are over 3,000 other American children in similar situations throughout the world and David hopes to spread the word and push for American intervention and action to bring these children home.
