Make your own Sundae
It’s definitely ice cream weather and Tuesday night July 27th, you’ll be able make your own.
SideBAR, a restaurant in the East Village is doing a Make Your Own Sundae event.
Chefs from Hot Pot Culinary Events are going to demonstrate how to make homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors. Then participants get to whip up a batch of homemade ice cream and top it off with a sundae bar.
Ticket are $30 per person and include 1 dessert cocktail and lots of ice cream.
They did the class in September and I heard it was a lot of fun. It’s designed for about 40 people, so should be a good fun way to meet people.
You can get tickets at sidebar.ticketleap.com

Crab Boil
Continuing on with our East Village Tuesday summer eating theme, there’s a restaurant in the East Village called Back Forty which does a Summer Crab Boil every Tuesday night until August 31st. It’s owned by the same chef who owns Savoy restaurant, one of the best restaurants in SoHo. They cover the tables with newspaper and pile steaming crabs on the table that have been steamed in old Bay and beer. Some sides including corn are included in the price. Pitchers of local craft beer are extra.
Dinner is $42 per person.
They’ve got a garden out back.
By the way, they will also do a private Chesapeake Crab Fest for $600 for up to 14 guests.
You must make reservations online. Reservations open up on Wednesday the week prior to the Tuesday event. Go onto their website or call 212-388-1990 if you are interested. I heard that spots fill up pretty quickly.
