WOR is proud to continue our long time support of arts education and of our local schools with our annual Shining Star Talent Search™. This is an exciting opportunity for your school to win $7500 and to be recognized across the tri-state area!
In the past, WOR Radio's Shining Star Talent Search has taken place during the spring; however, this year's contest will take place in the fall, in order to provide your students with ample time to practice and record their songs over the course of the summer, while their school obligations are not making such large dmands on their time, and their schedules are less hectic.
Students (grades 7 - 12) are invited to participate in Shining Star by singing a song of their choice and submitting their recording to WOR. Entries will be judged by WOR's talented talk hosts and staff, and the top 15 semi-finalists will have their entries played by Joe Bartlett on The WOR Saturday Morning Show on Saturday November 6th. The top four singers will be announced on The John Gambling Show on Monday, November 8th.
The cash prizes for the finalists are:
First Place: $1500 and $7500 for their school
Second Place: $750 and $3500 for their school
Third Place: $500 and $2500 for their school
Fourth Place: $250 and $1500 for their school
WOR Radio's Shining Star Talent Search™ has often been used as an entertaining and educational class project, and it is a wonderful opportunity for talented students to show off their voices to WOR Radio listeners and music industry professionals.
This competition is made possible by News Talk Radio 710 WOR with the support of Carolina RIce and DeCapital Morgage
