Andy started the show today with the Content Grill stories (and audio) – the Elmo voice child molester has been nominated for multiple Daytime Emmys and a mother who has been missing for years and officially declared dead has turned up in Florida. He then got right into the monologue all about the buddies of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and how two of them were in this country illegally on expired student visas. Andy argued Senator McCain’s point that the student visa issue needs to be investigated immediately. An estimated 15,000 people from radicalized Islamic countries are here on expired visas and Andy finds this information distressing. Paul Westcott called in to discuss security in the wake of the Boston Bombing and why liberals are wrong about Guantanamo Bay.
Brad Cohen came on to further analyze the issue of spousal immunity for Tamerlan’s wife. Andy played audio from Reese Witherspoon’s first interview after her arrest where she admitted lying to the police. Also, the officer’s dash-cam video was released today and it is BEYOND! One of our favorite national security experts, Michael Rubin, called in to discuss some breaking news out of the Boston Bombing case, apparently Dzhokhar spoke today about the initial plan which was to do a suicide bombing on July 4th but they decided to do it sooner because they built their bombs faster than they had expected. Also, he revealed that the bombs were built in the apartment that Tamerlan shared with his wife and daughter so it is looking less and less likely that she was oblivious to his plans.
I really liked this segment – Olivia Fox Cabane called in to talk about her latest book, The Charisma Myth, and explain how important first impressions are because people made decisions about other people within seconds of meeting them. She also talked about Imposter Syndrome and the power of charisma in people like Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. I helped close the hour with Bizarre News where we talked about a couple of guys charged with being Peeping Toms, Queen Beyonce’s crazy demands, and the various locations of Al Jazeera America.
