The monologue today was titled, A Tale of Two Hunger Strikes. In it Andy detailed the parallel between the media obsession with the Guantanamo Bay prisoner hunger strike while completely ignoring the hunger strike of American hero Dr. Shakil Afridi. Andy also ran through the stories on the Content Grill: bomb residue was found in Tamerlan’s apartment, Clarence Thomas slams President Obama, and the dash cam video from Reese Witherspoon’s arrest has been released and it is glorious! I came in studio for a full Bizarre News where we talked about Dr. Drew canceling Celebrity Rehab, a teenage boy ordered a prostitute only to get his iPad stolen, and a dad that robbed a bank to pay for a Disney Cruise for his family.
Matt DeBord has taken his talents to The Huffington Post and we couldn’t be happier for him! He called in for his regular business segment with Andy where they ran down the latest job numbers and the CODA bankruptcy disaster. A STILL not engaged Producer Michelle joined Andy to preview the hottest summer movies including Iron Man 3 which opens tonight. She also announced the director for the highly anticipated American Sniper film adaption of the book written by former show guest Chris Kyle. They also played more audio from that wonderful tape of Reese Witherspoon getting arrested. It really is the purest of comedy!
Long time no talk, Andrew Malcolm joined Andy near the end of the show to talk politics. He discussed the polling of Muslims in the Middle East who are in favor of suicide bombings as well as broke down the latest with Al Jazeera America and why they’re even opening up offices here. They also discussed President Obama’s trip to Costa Rica and the ziplining tour he can expect to enjoy. Andy closed the show with your calls.
